India Accessibility and Inclusion

Version 1.0 · Effective 22 August 2026

The Indian statutory basis for our accessibility commitments, and the routes available to you if we fall short of them.

Global RPwD Act 2016 GIGW 3.0 IS 17802

The substance — our conformance target, what we have built, where we currently fall short, and how to give feedback — is at Accessibility Statement. This page adds only what Indian law requires on top of it.

1. The obligations we work to

InstrumentWhat it requiresHow it reaches DECTIFY
Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, sections 40 and 42 Accessibility standards for information and communication technology, and access to electronic media and content in accessible formats Directly, as a provider of ICT products and services in India
RPwD Rules, 2017, rule 15 Adoption of the notified accessibility standards for websites and services Directly
Guidelines for Indian Government Websites (GIGW) 3.0 Accessibility, usability and content standards for government-facing digital services, built on WCAG Contractually, where we supply a government customer or a GeM buyer
IS 17802 (Parts 1 and 2) The Indian Standard for ICT accessibility, aligned with WCAG and EN 301 549 Directly, and as a procurement condition
Accessible India Campaign (Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan) National programme covering the built, transport and ICT environments Policy context for public-sector deployments

WCAG 2.2 Level AA, our stated target, meets or exceeds the technical requirements of IS 17802 and GIGW 3.0 in every criterion those instruments address. Where a government tender specifies IS 17802 or GIGW conformance directly, we map our conformance report onto that framework on request.

2. Section 46 and the transition

Section 46 of the RPwD Act required service providers to comply with the accessibility standards within the period prescribed. We do not treat that period as a reason to defer: our target and our known-gap list at Accessibility Statement apply now, with dated remediation commitments.

3. Accessible formats on request

We will provide, at no cost and within ten (10) business days:

  • An accessible HTML or tagged-PDF version of any document we publish, where the published version is not accessible.
  • A plain-text or structured-data equivalent of any chart, diagram or table.
  • Documentation and contractual materials in a format compatible with screen readers and refreshable braille displays.
  • Captions and transcripts for any video we publish.

Request these from accessibility@dectify.in.

4. Procurement and government customers

Where DECTIFY supplies a Government of India department, a State department, a public sector undertaking, or a buyer through the Government e-Marketplace, we will:

  • Furnish an accessibility conformance report mapped to IS 17802 and GIGW 3.0 as part of the technical bid.
  • Disclose known non-conformances rather than certify blanket compliance.
  • Accept accessibility acceptance testing as part of the acceptance criteria.
  • Commit to a remediation timeline for any defect found in acceptance testing, with the timeline in the contract.

Other public procurement obligations are at India Regulatory Compliance.

5. Inclusion beyond conformance

Technical conformance is a floor. In addition:

  • Language. Interface strings and safety-critical notices are being extended beyond English to the major Indian languages of the deployment regions. Current coverage is at [language support page].
  • Bandwidth and device. The HUB is engineered to remain operable on low-bandwidth connections and on modest hardware, because excluding an operator by device requirement excludes them just as effectively as a contrast failure.
  • Fairness in the models themselves. Differential error rates across demographic groups are an inclusion problem, and are dealt with at India AI and Responsible Technology and in the published model cards.
  • Signage. Site notice templates we supply to customers are designed for legibility, and are provided in English and the locally prevalent language.

6. Complaints and statutory escalation

  1. Us first. accessibility@dectify.in — acknowledged in 2 business days, substantive response in 10.
  2. Our Grievance Officer. Named at Grievance Redressal.
  3. Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, under section 75 of the RPwD Act, or the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities under section 80, either of whom may inquire into a deprivation of rights and recommend remedial action.

Using our process first is not a precondition to approaching the Commissioner. It is usually faster.
